Victory is my birth name

Victory is my birth name. My mom was going into labor and was experiencing complications. She and my dad already brought three children into the world, I was going to be their 4th, but they needed a miracle. They found that miracle with a midwife that believed God with them. After many months of carrying me and many long hours of labor, on Sept 1, 1994, Thalia Boyd beat the odds, and gave birth to a little baby girl, and named her Victory.

Victory is a lifestyle, not a stage name. It’s not something I decided to be, it’s something I had to be in order to live. My life is a movie. There’s so much that’s unique about my existence, however, there are many things about me that are common to every human being. Struggles and triumphs, fears and faith, doubts and hope… it’s all included in this life I’m living, and usually you can find it all in my music. For the first time, I’ve decided to chronicle my life outside of just the songs I sing. You’ll be able to follow along right here on my blog, Victory Chronicles. My intention is to share in real time how I overcome in my life and hopefully inspire you to do the same.

It takes much courage and confidence in ones self to identify who they are. We all are created by the almighty but we allow others to dictate who we are. God molded us while we were in our mother’s womb. Our lives are destined for greatness and the world now knows who Victory is. A special unique child of God who’s family inherited a jewel so bright that it out shines a diamond. May God’s blessings continue to cover you and your family through this journey.

Thank you for sharing this story. Your journey has been an awesome adventure. I first experienced your talent singing Overjoyed in my newsfeed. From there I started watching as many post as possible. When I discovered you were from Detroit, my/our hometown it really warmed my heart. Then I saw you in Detroit at the Majestic…..Wow!! Was all I said again. Meeting you and your siblings and Father just exposed a humbled and gifted family. Your name was truly co-signed by God

Everything you are radiates with truth and beauty. I have enjoyed your music – seeing the musical and spiritual unity between you and your siblings, all the way in rural Burgundy, France – and it has moved me to tears at times. Continue to delight, enchant, uplift, move, reveal, offer. You are doing exactly what you were intended to do. Peace, Nancy K

This is so great and exactly what we need now from artists – the honest dialogue about struggle, love, faith and hope. Thank you Victory for your honesty. And thank you for the wonderful music.

I just am so happy I found you dear on Facebook. I’m captivated by your expression to lyric and phrase and your voice. I understand that your siblings would sing in various parts of nyc town. When I worked in nyc 25 years ago my joy would be finding an interesting group busking around town. May I only express my very best wishes to you for your future, and as someone who follows Jesus as best she can- thank you for putting your voice to verse. Only Jesus, hugs, frances

The title of your coming album intrigues me. My eldest is your age and speaks of loneliness. You seem to have some similarities in that you both are creative and looking for connection. You have found the best connection in your Lord and Savior; I pray you will hold that as most valuable through your life. My son has walked away from faith in Christ. It does not stop us from praying and speaking truth with him. He no longer bristles at those gestures; I have hope. You are a breath of fresh air …truly, a fresh sound paired with eternal truths. It’s exactly what I need these days. I pray you will remain true to who God created you to be and not adopt the world’s vision for you! Victory in Jesus is the only victory worth having! That is true in every challenge He brings you through and it is true as it pertains to you, Victory, as a created being.
